In a landmark move to address the pressing need for mental health support and awareness, the Ripples of Change Foundation (ROCF), Heartfulness Institute (HFI), and Kateel Ashok Pai Memorial Institute (KAPMI) – a constituent entity of Manasa Hospital – have come together in a powerful collaboration. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) sealing this partnership was signed on July 12th, 2023, in Shimoga, marking the beginning of a concerted effort to make a meaningful impact on mental health in communities.

The “Voice That Cares” Program:

At the core of this joint initiative is the “Voice That Cares” program, a helpline designed to provide psychosocial first aid (PSFA) support to individuals in need. This free helpline operates 7 days a week and is staffed by trained volunteers from ROCF and HFI. Since its inception in 2021, the program has made significant strides, reaching over 10,000 beneficiaries across 28 states in India and handling more than 56,000 PSFA calls.

The Involvement of KAPMI:

KAPMI, as a crucial participant in this collaboration, is set to play a vital role in fortifying the “Voice that Cares” program. The institute will contribute through volunteering, mentoring, and counseling support, adding a valuable layer to the mental health services offered. With its affiliation to Manasa Hospital, KAPMI brings a wealth of experience and expertise in mental health to the table, making it an integral component of the initiative.

Roles and Responsibilities:

ROCF and HFI, as implementation partners, will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the helpline, ensuring its seamless functioning and maintaining the highest standards of service quality. This strategic partnership aims to create a robust support system for mental health, with a focus on fostering resilience within communities.

Shared Commitment to Mental Health:

The collaboration between ROCF, HFI, and KAPMI underscores a shared commitment to advancing mental health support, raising awareness, and eliminating the stigma associated with mental health issues. By joining forces, these organizations aspire to make a positive change in the lives of individuals and communities, offering a ray of hope to those grappling with mental health challenges.

As these three entities combine their strengths and resources, the collaborative effort promises to make significant strides in the field of mental health. The “Voice that Cares” program, backed by the collective expertise of ROCF, HFI, and KAPMI, stands as a testament to the transformative impact that collaboration can have on mental health support. Together, they embark on a journey to create a healthier and more resilient society, where mental health is prioritized, and individuals can find the support they need.
